I had tried making chicken rice before... not too bad of an attempt, just a little troublesome. I recently found out that this chinese BBQ store (roast duck, char siew, etc) I frequent often actually sells Hainanese chicken rice. I didn't think that it'd be as tasty as the average Singaporean hawker's food, but it wasn't too bad. The rice had a light ginger flavor but not as salty and flavorful as I hoped. They let you add char siew to it though!
